CAULKING (REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT)


1. Remove existing caulking from all areas to receive new caulk material. Upon removal of material, clean sides of joint as per manufacturer specifications using a recommended solvent.

2. Where backing material is missing from joints to be sealed, new polyethylene rope shall be installed at a compression ratio of 25% greater than the width of the joint.

3. Apply new caulk material, as recommended using a hand-held caulking gun, in the proper depth to width ratio as per manufacturer guidelines. Caulking shall be applied as manufacturer's recommendation to facilitate the product's purpose.

4. The surface of the bead will then be tooled to a smooth finish and uniform finish and sure bond between the two sides of the joint being sealed.
