MEMBRANE INSTALLATION (WATERPROOFING) 1. Prepare substrate in accordance to manufacturer's guidelines, i.e. surface to be membraned must be clean and free from deleterious or foreign materials and voids, cracks or fissures must be repaired to assure a level plane for the membrane's application. 2. Apply primer in accordance with manufacturer specifications. 3. At vertical upturns, install a perimeter corner reinforcement strip to reinforce membrane at these locations. Terminations shall be securely made by the installation of fastening bars at these terminations, if required. 4. All cracks shall be treated with an overlay of reinforcement membrane to ensure adhesion of the field membrane. 5. At expansion or control joints, or where pipes and drains run through the membrane system, membrane terminations shall be made good with the introduction and use of fastening bars and the details supplied by the manufacturer for same. Expansion or control joint detailing will be as laid out in the Scope of Work and be compatible with the membrane system chosen. 6. Where required (dependent on site conditions and specifications), cover membrane with an appropriate protection board, prior to backfill or grading material to be used once membrane has been installed. N.B. The above specification can be used for cold applied, hot applied or rolled membrane installations, the variance being the type of membrane chosen for your project. Hydrotech systems call for a one ply or two ply system and will be carried out as per the Scope of Work. |
