MEMBRANE (MASTIC ASPHALT)


1. Prepare substrate in conformance with manufacturer guidelines, i.e. surface to be membraned must be clean and free from materials which would adversely affect adhesion of waterproofing materials.

2. Expansion joints shall be treated in accordance with specifications given in this quotation, if covered under Scope of Work.

3. Treat cracks/fissures prior to application of hot-applied elastomeric membrane by sealing or laying in reinforcement strips as site conditions warrant.

4. Upturns, protrusions through the deck surface, drains etc. shall also be detailed prior to application of membrane and mastic asphalt.

5. Where applicable (such as ramp surfaces), a wire mesh shall be used to reinforce the waterproofing/mastic asphalt system (between layers) and facilitate adhesion to the substrate.

6. Unless otherwise stated, the average thickness of mastic asphalt shall be 5/8". Where it is to be used for grading or facilitating better drainage (slope to drain), the price shall be given on an additional square footage basis - based upon the above thickness and measured at the time of the installation, i.e. the additional material shall be charged for, over and above the thickness stated above, unless stated as a stipulated price for the project.
