PAVING (REMOVAL & REPLACEMENT)

4. Care shall be taken not to disturb the area surrounding the excavation(s).

5. Upon completion of grading and compaction of aggregates, install 1½ inch HL8 base asphalt. After initial rolling and compaction of base, install one-half inch HL3 or HL3A finish asphalt.

NOTE: Finish grade at Owner's discretion ie HL 3 or HL 3A.

6. Any encumbrances in the surfaces shall be hand-compacted to surrounding planes, in the thicknesses outlined as above, ie: three inch thickness.

7. Where a full excavation of all asphalt is not being carried out, the seam between old and new asphalts will be sealed with a hot bitumen.

NOTE: Tack-coat shall be applied between layers, if required.
