THROUGH-WALL FLASHING INSTALLATION 1. At designated locations, remove 2-3 courses of brick to access the areas for the installation of flashing. 2. Grind off surface rust of the existing shelf angle down to bare metal. Coat/prime exposed angle with zinc-rich paint. 3. Install a flexible membrane over the angle and up the backing wall. Adhere termination using a compatible product or sealant. 4. Install a pre-finished metal flashing over the flexible membrane (if part of scope of work). Detail shall exceed the vertical plane of the veneer with a positive slope outwards. 5. At corners of flashing angle terminations, install a membranous "box" to disallow water infiltration at corner locations. 6. Install new brick units (similarly matched in color/texture) using mortar tinted to match existing (if required). 7. A vent-type weeper shall be installed in the lower coursing at the shelf-angle and spaced at 2'-0" (every third brick) intervals. Mortar joints shall be struck to match existing profile. |
