CAULKING (OVERBEAD)

1. Cut out existing loose or de-bonded caulking from all voids and surfaces to receive new material. Install into any voids, any missing polystyrene rope (compression ratio of 125%) or other backing material as necessary.

2. Clean surfaces of remaining caulk with a solvent application as recommended by the manufacturer as well as joint to be over-beaded. Optional: Apply a bond-breaker tape over existing caulk to allow for two-sided adhesion.

3. Caulk using material as chosen, based upon adhesion tests conducted or a visual survey by contractor or Owner.

4. Caulking shall be performed by using a hand-held caulking gun to form a heavy bead which will engage the frame and masonry or sides of the joint to be sealed. The thickness of width to depth shall be determined as per manufacturer's guidelines.

5. The surface of the bead will then be tooled to a smooth finish and sure bond to the sides of the joint.
